Professional Background
Bill has practised law in Calgary since 1977, focusing on tax, wills and estate planning and administration, and corporate reorganizations for business clients. Bill joined Miles Davison LLP in 2002 and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2008.
Since returning to private practice in 1989, following five years as in-house tax counsel at Texaco Canada Resources, Bill has been extensively involved with structuring and reorganizing corporations, owner-managed businesses, and partnerships. He is an experienced advisor to executors and administrators of estates, and has established and advised many family trusts.
Bill completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants Tax A & B training as well as their courses on Oil and Gas Tax and Corporate Reorganizations.
Bill completed the successful negotiation of a Service Contract with the National Iranian Oil Company in Iran on behalf of a Canadian public company.
His preferred areas of practice are as counsel:
