Professional Background

Jim articled in Calgary and has been a partner of the firm since 1972. He has conducted a general practice with an emphasis on litigation and has appeared before all levels of the Alberta Courts. He successfully conducted the defense of a liability claim against a ski area in one of the longest civil jury trials in Alberta.

As well, Jim is experienced in the areas of corporate-commercial law, insurance law, estate law and real estate. He is recognized as an experienced and skilled negotiator having successfully participated in numerous mediations and other alternative dispute resolution processes.

Although continuing a general practice, Jim’s focus has increasingly shifted to the defense of ski areas and in the field of sport and adventure liability work.
